Our Story

As parents, we all want the best for our children. But what happens when your child is diagnosed with non-verbal autism and later a diagnosis of speech apraxia? That was the reality for our family of 5 (4 at the time of our diagnosis) living in London. Our 2nd daughter (L) was diagnosed at the age of 2 with Autism Spectrum Disorder. As L's mother, I haven't shared her story publicly before, but I've realized that I am part of her story and her main advocate in life.

L is now 5 and a half years old and our family has faced many challenges in our journey until today, but I have found strength in sharing our experiences. That's why I've created a blog to connect with others who may be going through similar situations and to make a change for L and children like her. I will be sharing our experiences with L's diagnosis, her journey to ABA Therapy (Applied Behaviour Analysis), and our struggles with L's Educational Health Care Plan and our local authority. We have had to fight for every support L has received and are still fighting for it today.

I hope our story can help others going through a similar journey and raise awareness about non-verbal autism. Let's come together and support each other.
